Kaipen is this pretty awesome crispy, salty, potato-chip alternative food from Northern Laos. Luang Prabang is where it is famous and where people go to get it. It’s sort of like Cheerwine (if you are from the NC area) or BBQ Sauce from any number of Southern US regions. After buying, frying in a pan with a bit of oil and enjoying with a BeerLao is apparently the preferred method of consumption.
