Never been to a Ruby Tuesday as an adult. Apparently I went one time as a kid but obviously, it didn’t stick.. This time I will definitely be remembering! The Petite Creole Shrimp Salad was anything but petite! If you’re looking for a healthy salad with a decent portion size this is where it’s at!
We ordered the Fresh Guacamole Dip from the Appetizer’s but were told by our waitress that unfortunately the kitchen had run out of good Avocados. It was JUST after they had opened for lunch so it was easily understood. Because of this, the manager offered to comp any appetizer. Not being one to take advantage I tried not to take the most expensive item.. I chose the crab cakes. DELICIOUS! I love the grilled lemon, it creates a nice twist on an old twist. (See what I did there?)
For my lunch entrée I ordered the Creole Catch. Ever since I came back from Russia and Laos especially, I love to eat seafood! Growing up I was never a big fan, in fact I hated seafood.. Having been introduced to the good stuff in those two countries REALLY turned my taste buds around! In Russia it was all about how it was prepared and the knowledge and skill of the chef, and in Laos it was the unfamiliar flavor combinations made possible by all the local produce. (And probably fish sauce, yum!)
Something I am sure Americans are not familiar with is a good salad bar. Ruby Tuesday has the BEST salad bar I have ever been too. I will say that I only realized my passion for food as an adult so have been to A LOT of bad salad bars before experiencing Ruby Tuesday’s..
This was the result of one of my trips to the salad bar. REAL Bacon AND Edamame AND Sun-Dried Tomatoes! So easy to include all the colors of the rainbow that I actually walked through the salad bar thinking to myself, “Ok, Roy G. Biv. Hrm, Red tomatoes, orange carrots…”
This Ruby Tuesday in Statesville, NC had amazing customer service, attentive staff and GREAT food! I hope this is the same at other Ruby Tuesday’s. Let me know of your experiences at Ruby Tuesday in the comments.
I have to agree that this Ruby Tuesday was very good. I'd gone years ago more than once to others and their focus was not as much on healthy menu items. They still had a massive salad bar back then, but I think in the past 10 years, their menu as well as the salad bar selections have improved. (Mom)
ReplyDeleteI love Ruby Tuesday! I'm trying to lose weight and I go at LEAST once a week. At most places, your side-dish options for healthy eating include poorly cooked (soggy, over/undercooked) steamed veggies (usually broccoli). I actually have to give my side-orders a little thought each trip! I have CHOICES! I typically go for the petite sirloin with roasted spaghetti squash (it's my FAVORITE healthy side). Today, I had the mashed cauliflower.
ReplyDeleteMy friend is (hopefully) going to start "dieting" soon, so we might start including the salad bar to bulk up our meals. I took a look at it today and I was making a mental list of my salad: carrots, mushrooms, cucumber, squash, mixed greens, spinach...
I might have to try the creole catch next time. I love my steak, but a little more variety never hurt anyone, and it's the same price (not to mention lower in calories).
