You can find them at markets in Luang Prabang at various stages of development.
I almost thought my friends would ask me to eat them but I noticed that they weren’t eating them either.. That’s my sign that I shouldn’t either. I mean really, these girls eat crickets and mysterious things on bus trips. If they don’t eat these then that is something I should also not eat.
When I Googled “Silkworm pupa” the images I got were extremely similar to what you see above. When I searched for the silkworm itself it looked a bit different so it is entirely possible that I am mistaken about what kind of bug I have here. It could also be that these are just the Lao species of silkworm. If you know please let me know if I am correct or mistaken. I would greatly appreciate it.
