Order Chick-fil-a Online! They’ll Even Deliver (For a minimum)

While browsing the Chick-fil-a website for some information on my upcoming post on their Spicy Chicken Biscuit I found this section regarding food orders. Apparently you can order food for pickup the same way you would for pizza carry-out!

Ok, so Thailand already does this plus cheap delivery for nearly every restaurant there but fast-food delivery and take-out ordering is sort of new in America.

I didn’t want to go too much further than this form, but this can give you a general idea of what you need to go through to reserve some food.

For my store here are the Instructions:

- $150 Minimum order for delivery. No minimum order for pickup.
- Our delivery area is 12 miles in any direction from the restaurant.
- All delivery orders must be placed 6 hours in advance.
- All pickup ordes must be placed 2 hours in advance.
- No deliveries after 7:00pm.
- Orders can be delivered during most all hours of operation with enough advanced notice, preferably 24 hours, but can usually accomodate last minute request. Please call (704) 881-0002.

I did notice that some other stores had some different instructions.

In Topeka, KS at the West Ridge Mall, the Instructions changed to meet the capabilities of that store and customer demand.

- $50 Minimum order for delivery. No minimum order for online take-out orders.
- Our delivery area is 30 miles in any direction from the restaurant.
- All delivery orders must be placed 2 hours in advance.
- All online pickup orders must be placed 15 minutes in advance.
- Delivery is available between 9:30am and 8:30pm.
- Please note that special orders, delivery orders requested in less than 24 hours, or special delivery time orders must be placed directly with the restaurant by phone (785) 272-7439

Simply comparing this information side-by-side doesn’t really give you a full picture.

When I go into my nearest CFA the staff are so busy filling each customers’ order swiftly and precisely. It seems like some sort of mind-reading went on as far as my orders have been concerned. If the staff can do that AND make deliveries then all I have to say is, “Wow, just wow!”

You simply can’t look at two stores’ Instructions and make a straight comparison. So many different factors go into it including staff availability, traffic, customer demand, and many more I would guess. Actually I am guessing at all of those but they’re common sense to me.

I hadn’t heard of this before and I wonder if many others in my area have either.

I believe part of the dining experience is interacting with the people behind the counter and enjoying the atmosphere of the restaurant. For now I will continue to cheerfully dine-in.

Let me know in the comments if you have heard of this before and whether you prefer to dine in or out.

  1. I hadn't heard of this before. So far, at Chick-fil-A, I like dining in, but I also enjoy eating my leftover nuggets at home the following evening while watching NCIS or CSI or something. :-)
